CORNET welcomes new network partners

Thanks to the great work of all CORNET partners, we proudly announce that our network has grown: Québec and Peru joined CORNET and will be open for project suggestions from all partners.

Republic of Peru – South American country joined CORNET

CORNET´s new partner is CIENCIACTIVA, the funding branch of the National Council for Science, Technology and Technological Innovation (CONCYTEC) which is in charge of managing competitive grant funds for human resource development and research in Peru. The cooperation with Peru started as a German/Peruvian pilot project, submitted in the 20th Call. The Research Association of the German Food Industry (FEI) and the Peruvian Association of cocoa producers (APPCACAO) initiated the project proposal COCOACHAIN. The positively evaluated proposal will cover the entire cocoa value-added chain from farm to consumer, analysing and testing different composition and cultivation conditions of the cocoa bean. Further information about CIENCIACTIVA is available on the Peruvian profile on the CORNET website.

Peru is one of Latin America´s most dynamic national economies. With a share of around 50 per cent of the export income, the mining industry belongs to the most important industrial sector. However, trade and services as well as the broad field of processing trade are on the rise. Looking closer at the processing trade, Peru focuses, for example, on the preparation of ore, wood and paper goods, metal processing as well as textile and agricultural products. CIENCIATIVA focuses their funding activities on the Transversal National Programs for Science, Technology and Innovation: Valuing Biodiversity, Biotechnology, Materials Science and Technology, Environmental Science and Technology, Information and Communication Technology and Basic Sciences.

Québec – the largest Canadian province cooperates with CORNET

CORNET cooperates with the ‘Ministère de l’Économie, de la Science et de l’Innovation’ from Québec which has an applicable funding programme in place to help Québec stakeholders to apply for Québec funding in CORNET. All inquiries for collaboration will be disseminated to the community of research and innovation of Québec. We invite interested applicants to get directly in touch with the Ministère de l’Économie, de la Science et de l’Innovation. The contact details are available on the Québec partner profile on the CORNET website.

The economy of Quebec represents around 20 per cent of Canada´s total GDP and if it were a country it´s economy would be ranked just behind Norway. The province contains rich natural resources and raw materials. Consequently, the paper and wood industry as well as the exploitation of hydro-electric power belong to the province´s most important industries. Further important branches are for example, aerospace engineering, information technology, biopharmaceutics, agro- and nutrition industries. The Ministère de l’Économie, de la Science et de l’Innovation focuses their funding activities for example on biotechnology, bio-foods, renewable energy, electro-mobility, advanced materials and medical technology.
